Hwange Tracks & Traditions

Experience a safari in Zimbabwe’s largest national park designed for adventurers who want to have a blast and make a difference. This compact, high-impact itinerary blends adrenaline with purpose – delivering epic wildlife encounters and meaningful conservation experiences, all in one unforgettable week. The tone is fun, the mission is serious: immerse yourself in Hwange’s wild beauty and give back to its future.

From day one, you’ll roam Hwange National Park’s sweeping landscapes from two distinct angles. Start at Nehimba Lodge in the park’s north, where teak forests and natural waterholes draw elephants right up to your deck at sunset. Mid-week, hop aboard the Elephant Express – a one-of-a-kind open-air safari railcar – and chug through the bush with the wind in your hair, spotting wildlife en route to Bomani Tented Lodge in the remote southern plains. There, wide-open horizons and a busy waterhole set the stage for spectacular game drives and starry nights around the campfire. Each day brings new thrills: track lions at dawn, sip sundowners as giraffes wander by, and head out after dark on night drives to seek out Hwange’s elusive nocturnal creatures. And it’s not just about wildlife – you’ll connect with the people of Hwange too, perhaps visiting a nearby village and school to meet local families, hear their songs, and see community conservation in action.

The crown jewel of this journey is our Community Rhino Conservation Experience. Step behind the scenes with the dedicated conservationists working to bring rhinos back to Hwange. You’ll join real-life “rhino rangers” in the field – tracking Zimbabwe’s newest rhino residents (the first to roam Hwange in almost 20 years!) and learning how local communities have become proud guardians of these endangered icons. It’s an eye-opening, inspiring day that turns your safari into direct support for a groundbreaking initiative. Conservation you can feel, witness, and champion – by the time you leave, you’ll know your adventure helped make a difference.

Hwange Tracks & Traditions invites you to an adventure that blends playful exploration with purposeful travel. Come ready to unplug, look lions in the eye, ride a bush railway, and stand toe-to-toe with conservation in action – all in one epic week. This is more than a safari; it’s a story you’ll be telling for years, and a journey where your wanderlust makes a difference.
